Canon Solutions America Inc., Melville, N.Y., a subsidiary of Canon U.S.A., recently announced the launch of its new website. Designed to advance the company's digital outreach, the new site brings together all of the business units and shared services of the company, providing a consistent web presence and enhanced customer experience.

Just last year, Print+Promo's State of the Industry report addressed a big overhaul in marketplace realities. Suppliers and distributors alike finally tossed out traditional ink-on-paper models in favor of a service-based approach, creating a path for historic opportunities. Those opportunities, it turns out, came in the form of historic acquisitions.

Printing Industries of America (PIA), Sewickley, Pa., recently attended a White House event to announce major progress on a series of initiatives launched last year to combat "patent trolls" and abusive patent litigation. Michael Makin, president and CEO of PIA, accepted the invitation extended to the association by National Economic Council director Gene Sperling and secretary of commerce Penny Pritzker. Makin was represented at the event by Lisbeth A. Lyons, PIA's vice president of government affairs.

The Ben Franklin Honor Society of Printing Industries of America, Sewickley, Pa., inducted various standouts, including Roger Buck, marketing director for The Flesh Co., St. Louis, at its annual induction ceremony that was held in Chicago.
