No. 2: Proforma

What was your company’s biggest accomplishment over the last year?
Greg Muzzillo: We are very proud that 14 Proforma owners were recognized by Inc. magazine on its list of the 5,000 fastest-growing private companies in the U.S. Proforma also welcomed nine first-time Million Dollar Club members, 18 first-time Multi-Million Dollar Club members, two 5 Million Dollar Club members and three 10 Million Dollar Club members. We are only successful when our owners are successful. Clearly, we’ve had a very successful year.
What is your company’s top priority for 2017?
GM: We are developing several new programs at Proforma for 2017 to help our owners grow their businesses. The first is called our ROI Selling System. This program is designed to demonstrate the proven, measurable success of the solutions our owners provide to help them get into more qualified selling situations more easily and win more business. The other program is called ProRecruit. This program is designed to help our owners who want to grow through hiring sales reps to more easily identify and hire qualified and interested candidates.
What do you think is the biggest challenge for distributors in our industry, and how can we work toward a solution?
GM: Candidly, the biggest challenge for distributors is the fact that it’s relatively easy to achieve a certain minimum level of success at which many distributors and sales reps can become comfortable. I’m convinced that the No. 1 reason that there is very little growth in our industry is because very few people are really out there aggressively selling.
What is a great piece of advice you personally received? Did you have occasion to put it to use?
GM: I recently read the book “The ONE Thing: The Surprisingly Simple Truth Behind Extraordinary Results” by Gary Keller [with Jay Papasan]. I am enjoying building the principles in that book into my daily focus and planning.
Give us a glimpse of who Greg Muzzillo is outside the office. Where would people most likely find you when you’re not at work?
GM: My primary office is in my home, so some may say I’m always at work. I love spending time with my wonderful family. I’m fortunate that my wife and some of our children are working with us in the business, so my family life and work life intermingle.
