The Print and Graphics Scholarship Foundation (PGSF), Warrendale, Pa., announced that a new scholarship has been funded by Alcom Printing Group Inc., Harleysville, Pa. The Alcom Printing Group Scholarship endowment will be funded at the Print Heritage endowment level of $25,000. Alcom Printing Group Inc. established the scholarship in recognition of PGSF’s 60th anniversary.
With more than 69 years of service excellence in the printing industry, Alcom Printing Group Inc. is a leading provider of integrated solutions for print, direct mail, marketing and business development, and offers solutions that include commercial lithography, digital print, wide format, print-on-demand, web-to-print, fulfillment solutions and direct mail, as well as promotional product offerings.
“Alcom operates our business with a mindset of ‘Yes is the answer, now what’s the question?’ said Doug Yeager, chief operations officer of Alcom Printing Group. “We have a number of team members with print and graphics degrees working in various roles within our company and we felt a need to find a way to give more students the opportunity of a solid education in our industry. We couldn’t think of a better way than to create a PGSF scholarship in Alcom’s name to celebrate the diamond anniversary of the Foundation.”
Yeager further stated his enthusiasm for education in the graphic arts by remembering that he had received a PGSF scholarship while attending Rochester Institute of Technology. “Without the funding provided by PGSF and other scholarship funds, I would not have been able to afford to further my education and to achieve the things I have realized to this point in my career,” he shared.
The Alcom Printing Group Scholarship will provide young students who are pursuing a course of study in the graphic arts with the opportunity to enhance their education. This is an important way to invest in the future workforce of the industry.
“PGSF is dedicated to promoting careers in the graphic arts, and we are pleased to provide this vehicle for Alcom to do the same,” said John Berthelsen, vice president of Development for PGSF. “With the establishment of this endowment, the Alcom name will remain a perpetual testament of their dedication to the industry.”
