Avery Dennison's Give Back to Schools Contest Awards Fifteen Schools

Pasadena, California-based Avery Dennison announced the winners of the Avery Dennison Give Back to Schools Contest. Avery Dennison will donate approximately $10,000 worth of office and school supplies to each of the Top 15 schools with the most votes from this online initiative, which drew hundreds of thousands of votes from parents, students and teachers nationwide.

The online contest is a part of the Avery Dennison Give Back to Schools program, which was created in celebration of the company's 75th anniversary as a way to give back to the communities that have made the company's success possible. Students, teachers, families and supporters (ages 18 and older and excluding Avery Dennison employees) voted online for their local K-8 school between mid-June and Sept. 5, 2010 in an effort to garner the most votes and ultimately be rewarded with a generous donation from Avery Dennison. Initially, Avery Dennison was planning to donate to the top 10 vote-getting schools, but after seeing the overwhelming response to the program from school supporters, Avery Dennison decided to expand donations to the top 15 schools, awarding nearly 700 lbs. of school supplies to each.

After almost 900,000 votes, the Top 15 schools are:

4. Marshall Humphrey Elementary, Chandler, Ariz.

5. Michael G. Wickman Elementary, Chino Hills, Calif.

6. Columbia Elementary, Orlando, Fla.

7. Westwood Elementary, Manchester, Tenn.

8. Clara Barton Elementary, Corona, Calif.

9. Rosa Parks Elementary, Corona, Calif.

10. Harada Elementary, Corona, Calif.

11. Don Benito Fundamental, Pasadena, Calif.

12. St. Irenaeus, Cypress, Calif.

13. Stone Elementary, Crossville, Tenn.

14. Elk Grove Elementary, Elk Grove, Calif.

15. Chinese Christian Schools, San Leandro, Calif.

Employees from Avery Dennison will personally deliver the approximately $10,000 worth of Avery-brand office and school supplies to each of the recipient schools over the next couple of months.

In addition to Give Back to Schools, Avery Dennison supports education through its partnership with Box Tops for Education, a program that helps parents and communities earn much-needed cash for schools. The cash earned by schools through Box Tops for Education can be used in many ways, including rebuilding playgrounds, funding under-budgeted programs, or purchasing classroom equipment, library books, computers and other much-needed supplies.
