Ennis Inc. closed out the year by closing a deal. Effective Dec. 31, 2020, one of the Midlothian, Texas-based supplier’s wholly owned subsidiaries acquired the assets and assumed some liabilities of Roanoke, Virginia-based InfoSeal LLC, a provider of pressure seal and tax form products.
According to a press release, the Ennis subsidiary, operating under the InfoSeal brand and name, will remain at its current facility with a multi-year lease. InfoSeal employees and local management are also expected to remain on staff, with no disruption in service.
Keith Walters, chairman, CEO and president of Ennis Inc., welcomes the added capabilities and expertise that this well-known brand brings to his company’s expanding product offering, including the existing VersaSeal pressure seal product line.
“InfoSeal products are sold through our traditional sales channel of independent distributors, and this business continues our strategy to support our loyal distributors with an industry-leading product offering,” Walters said.
In Print+Promo’s recent Top Suppliers feature, we asked Walters about the COVID effect on Ennis Inc.’s acquisition strategy. While some opportunities fall through, he said, it is rare that the top-ranked supplier isn’t on the lookout for the next great fit.
“During the pandemic, we’ve been working several opportunities, but we’ve also learned over the years that entrepreneurial owners don’t typically want to sell their businesses during a downturn when the volume of their business might be depressed,” Walters shared.
