Headquartered in Lake Success, N.Y., Canon U.S.A. announces the availability of custom online profiles for its imagePROGRAF iPF6100 and imagePROGRAF iPF5000 printers. To help new iPF6100 and iPF5000 users take their prints to the next level of color management, Canon has posted free, enhanced paper profiles for both Mac and PC users covering the company’s most popular fine art and photographic media.
The custom profiles are designed to provide excellent color fidelity on various Canon-branded media for both popular imagePROGRAF models. The company currently has 40 profiles available for download for 10 different media types for the iPF6100 and iPF5000 printers, and will be adding additional custom media profiles in the coming months for both models.
In addition, visitors to Canon’s Online Digital Learning Center will be treated to a free library of printing techniques from Canon Explorer of Light and Print Master, George Lepp.
The first of Canon’s 12-color imagePROGRAF printers, the iPF5000 provides one of the industry’s largest color gamuts with Canon’s 12-color inkset featuring Lucia pigmented inks. The professional grade printer is engineered for speed and advanced image quality using Canon’s L-COA controller and dual print heads for fast, accurate prints.
Canon’s new iPF6100 large-format printer is capable of 24-inch wide and 17-inch wide prints respectively, and represents the next generation of Canon large-format technology. The iPF6100 printer is equipped with a 12-color pigment inkset, using new formulations and enhanced ink drop control for improved dot patterns and reduced dot graininess over previous generation printers. The new ink formulations also reduce bronzing and provide better ink adhesion for improved scratch resistance.
Canon’s standard profiles were built to exacting color standards with X-Rite professional color management technology, including X-Rite ProfileMaker 5 software, and i1iSis and i1iO automated chart readers. Those needing the next level of color management, or the ability to create custom profiles which more exactly represent their devices, ink and media, can visit X-Rite’s website at www.xrite.com/photo for a complete set of color management solutions.
