GPA Gives Back to Community for the Holidays
As the holiday season approached, GPA got into the holiday spirit by continuing the tradition of turning its Christmas tree into a Giving Tree for the Alliance for the Children's Wishes to Santa program, which provides children in need with new clothes and toys for the holidays. For the start of a new tradition, GPA also participated in the Toys for Tots program.
In the Wishes to Santa program, GPA employees chose a gift tag on their Christmas tree. Each gift tag represented a child and their wish list. Employees either purchased the gifts listed on the tag, or made a monetary contribution toward the purchase of gifts. The children's wish lists contained nothing extravagant, mostly necessities that many people take for granted such as clothing or socks. For 26 years, the Alliance for Children has been working to supply children across the country with basic needs to help with their wellness, health and education. It has no paid employees, and is run by volunteers who donate their time to help children with disabilities, cancer, and those who have been abused and are in crisis.
For the Toys for Tots program, a few of GPA's motorcycle enthusiasts participated in the Toys for Tots Motorcycle Parade and hosted a gift collection at GPA's headquarters. The collection at GPA yielded many new toys to brighten the holidays for less fortunate children. The mission of the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation is to assist the U. S. Marine Corps in providing a tangible sign of hope to economically disadvantaged children at Christmas, and GPA was glad to help such a worthy cause.
