GPO Names New CIO

The U.S. Government Printing Office (GPO) has named Charles Riddle as Chief Information Officer (CIO).

Riddle brings nearly two decades of experience in leading complex information technology (IT) organizations. He came to GPO from the U.S. Department of Agriculture Food Safety Inspection Service where he worked for five years, most recently serving as CIO. In this position Riddle planned, managed, and executed an annual IT budget of $76 million and supported more than 9,000 employees nationwide. Riddle also held various IT related positions at Booz Allen Hamilton, Better World Telecom, Cable and Wireless, NETtel Communications and Keystone Communications.

GPO's CIO manages and provides policy guidance and oversight of agency-wide IT policies and standards relating to the acquisition, implementation, and operation of telecommunications and IT systems of the agency. Riddle will be responsible for developing and maintaining operating budgets for network IT systems consistent with programmatic plans and established financial guidelines and monitoring activities and costs related to the overall utilization of information resources required to meet programmatic operations requirements.
