On November 17, 1986, shortly after constructing a second plant in Angola, Ind., the Greenfield plant was destroyed by fire. The new plant's ability to take on the workload of the destroyed site allowed Highland to meet its order commitments. With the Angola plant operating 12-hour shifts, the decision was made to relocate Greenfield manufacturing to Hillsboro, Ohio. By December 27, the Hillsboro site was purchased and plans were underway to make the move. Eight weeks later, the company's headquarters was re-established in Hillsboro.
