It's Show Time!
Fall is in the air. And with it comes the anticipation of the annual forms show. This year Informservices will be held at the convention center in Rosemont, Ill., which has been a strong venue in the past.
The show provides distributors with the opportunity to identify new product lines, find alternative sources for existing products and compare notes with peers. For distributors who focus on traditional forms products, the show offers a hands-on look at such line extensions as integrated products, mailers, commercial printing and cards. Those looking to branch out a little farther can find suppliers of digital printing, promotional products and electronic services. And distributors interested in the cutting edge can find e-commerce programs, electronic forms, variable imaging and RFID labels.
It is also a good time to investigate alternative products and additions to current portfolios. To do so, there are edu-cational sessions available on many new topics, as well as the opportunity for good old-fashioned face-to-face meetings with suppliers to help you get started on new product lines.
Do not simply wander the aisles hoping to find something of interest, however. Look through this month's issue to locate the suppliers and products you want to see and plan your time to get the most out of the two days offered.
Call suppliers ahead of time to schedule meetings, either at the exhibitor's booth or off the show floor entirely for a more private conference. Set up time for the important educational sessions you want to attend.
By all means enjoy the social activities but do not be distracted from your objectives. Treat Informservices as an investment that provides you with the opportunity to improve your business.
Don't stop when you get home from the show. Gauge the interest of your customers in promising new product lines and follow up with suppliers to begin improving your bottom line.
