MultiForme Installs BookPad System
MultiForme, Quebec, Canada, has recently installed a Vijuk Multi-BookPad System that side stitches, tapes and cuts book pads in-line.
"Up till now, the production process for bookpads involved a great deal of manual labor," said Pierre D'Amour, president of MultiForme. "The Vijuk system met our production requirements and offered the automation we were looking for. Producing books has always been very labor intensive. The entire operation is now significantly easier."
According to D'Amour, many customers are pleased with the taping that goes over the stitches. "Covering up the stitches means that the pads won't scratch desks or hands or catch on clothing," he explained. "It may seem like a small benefit, but in the case of the order pads used by waitresses, for instance, eliminating those annoyances is greatly appreciated. In a business as competitive as forms printing, a benefit as small as this can provide us with a definite sales edge."
D'Amour also noted that this new system has enabled MultiForme to speed up its workflow and, as a result, become more competitive on short-run jobs, which are currently in high demand.
