Pittsburg State University Accepting Applications for Chair of the Department of Graphics and Imaging Technologies Position
The College of Technology at Pittsburg State University, located in Pittsburg, Kan., is accepting applications for the position of Chair of the Department of Graphics and Imaging Technologies.
The Department of Graphics and Imaging Technologies (GIT) offers two degrees: a bachelor's degree with five different areas of emphasis and a bachelor's of applied science in technology. The department employs 10 full-time teaching faculty members and additional adjunct faculty to serve approximately 200 majors and more than 100 minors.
Candidates for this position will be expected to:
• Provide vision and leadership to the two GIT degree programs
• Aggressively engage industry
• Understand and appreciate graphics and imaging technologies education
• Lead the department’s assessment activities
• Oversee departmental financial accounts
• Connect and engage GIT alumni
• Teach 3 to 6 credit hours per semester
• Pursue scholarly activities, grants and private funding.
Candidates must demonstrate a management style that reflects a cooperative and respectful approach to working with faculty. Candidates must demonstrate a record of working with industry and effective promotion of graphics and imaging technologies education.
An ideal candidate will have: an earned doctorate, at least one degree in graphics and imaging technology or a closely related area, minimum of 5 years each of industry experience and higher education teaching, and 3 years of coordinating or administration experience, exceptional communication and interpersonal skills; proven record of leading and advocating an organization; experience managing a department including employee performance evaluations; working knowledge in the software and processes used in the GIT emphasis areas; education experience with new technology in various medias; training with the hardware used in the GIT labs; history of involvement with professional graphics and imaging organizations, and fully aware of the recent trends in the graphics and imaging technology industry.
