PPAI Honors Kendra McDougal and Mark Shinn, MAS, as 2017 PPAI RAC Volunteers of the Year
McDougal, a brand merchandise consultant at HALO Branded Solutions operating out of Colonial Beach, Va.; and Shinn, MAS, president of Incentives West, a multi-line rep firm based in Newcastle, Wash., will be formally honored at the 2017 RAC Leadership Development Workshop opening night reception on Oct. 17 in Grapevine, Texas.
The PPAI RAC Volunteer of the Year Award is presented annually to regional association members who have demonstrated an outstanding level of volunteerism and leadership, and who have made significant and measurable contributions to a regional association. McDougal and Shinn exemplify the spirit of volunteerism, and inspire those around them with their perseverance, passion and dedication to the promotional products industry at every level.
McDougal has been an active member of the Chesapeake Promotional Products Association (CPPA), volunteering her time and energy with the regional association at several levels. She was a board member from 2005 to 2013, serving as its secretary and vice president and, in 2011, as board chair. McDougal also chaired the association’s education committee in 2005 and its trade show and marketing committee in 2006 and 2007.
Alongside her involvement with CPPA, McDougal has also been an engaged member of the RAC. She served on the RAC board from 2007 to 2011, and led it as board president in 2010. She returned to RAC in 2015 and 2016 as the CPPA’s delegate to the council. An active voice in the industry, McDougal also joined the first PPAI Legislative Education and Action Day (L.E.A.D.) in 2010, taking the industry’s message to Washington.
At both the regional and national level, Shinn has been an active volunteer in the promotional products industry. He joined the Northwest Promotional Marketing Association (NWPMA) in 2000 and served on its board of directors from 2002 to 2006, and as its board president in 2009. Shinn also co-chaired NWPMA’s PPAI Pyramid Award-winning “Finding Promo” committee, and served on the association’s education committee—the Best of the West Ideas Showcase committee—from 2003 to 2009, and the Aloha Showcase committee in 2005-2011.
Shinn served on the RAC board from 2004 to 2010, and was the RAC board president in 2008. He has been a L.E.A.D. participant for the past five years, and has served as the NWPMA’s legislative chair. A PPAI Fellow and recipient of the PPAI Supplier Achievement Award in 2008, Shinn has also been an active member of several of the Association’s committees, including the PPAI Editorial Advisory Committee.
