Print+Promo Launches Augmented Reality, Adds Video and E-commerce to Print Edition of Magazine
Print+Promo is excited to announce that beginning this month, digital content will be directly available in every print edition of Print+Promo magazine. Video, news articles, web stores and more will be live and immediately accessible off the printed page.
Through a technology known as "augmented reality," we're able to make any page in our magazine scannable by smartphone or tablet, using an app called Layar. Once scanned with the Layar app, you'll be able to see and interact with any augmented pages in the magazine. Previously hidden content will reveal itself in the app's window. Videos will play, extra articles will appear, company websites will be accessible at the tap of a finger. Essentially, Print+Promo is now packed with even more useful, business-building information.
To access the exclusive digital content, search for the Layar app in your smartphone's app store or visit www.layar.com/download. Don't worry about cost or Android versus Apple, because the app is free and available for both operating systems.
Starting out, we focused our efforts on the January issue's cover, our apparel feature and product spotlight, which include product videos, product pages and more. We'll be adding more augmented reality features in the months to come, such as video and animation, more detailed articles, supplier LinkedIn profiles and more. We feel this addition drastically increases how useful and enjoyable our publication can be, and we hope you come to feel the same way.
