There’s an underlying theme that runs through the stories we write every month for Print+Promo: effective problem-solving. Think you can offer an attractive price and call it a day? Think again. Today’s corporate culture demands a deep understanding of client goals. This means conducting research, asking the right questions and anticipating roadblocks. Print and promotional distributors are doing this and more—and we’ve got the proof. For the next few weeks, we will be highlighting case studies that show the importance of exceeding expectations. The full collection is published in our June issue.
Employee Appreciation Day Giveaway
Submitted by Bob Kenehan, president, dbp|chicago, Chicago
The Client: An undisclosed leading provider of technology to the hospitality industry.
The Goal: A key client’s HR department gives each of its 1,000 employees a yearly motivational gift as part of “Employee Appreciation Day” to let them know their efforts throughout the year are valued. Since the client is part of the hospitality industry, it wanted a gift that would be used around the office and at home, and be enjoyed and valued as it’s a reflection of the company’s brand image.
The Solution: ... I found a new item I was sure my client would love: A 16 oz. acrylic double-walled “Shelby” Tumbler, made by Next [Products, a supplier located in Shelbyville, Ind.]. The client appreciated the overall quality, the tech look, that it was made in the U.S., lifetime guaranteed and that it was usable for hot and cold drinks.
The Challenge: Quality is key. Since we provided mass distribution of the product to the client’s 130 locations anything that is heavy, large or breakable can pose a challenge too, so we like items that are guaranteed to arrive undamaged. No one likes a broken gift!
The Outcome: The program was so successful as an employee gift that the client now gives out the tumbler as its new business giveaway, creating many repeat orders for DBP and a very happy customer.
Don’t forget to check back next week for another case study!
