Printware Celebrates 25th Anniversary
Printware, the leading independent manufacturer of high quality, high performance and innovative polyester CtP solutions, is celebrating its twenty-fifth year manufacturing high-resolution imaging devices for the printing market.
Printware manufactured its first imaging device, the 720 IQ high resolution plain paper typesetter, in 1986. This then-revolutionary device significantly improved productivity by replacing slow, traditional phototypesetting devices, which were also expensive to operate and maintain. Printware manufactured and sold over 3,000 720 IQ units.
In 1992, Printware introduced the model 1440 electrostatic platesetter, which simplified platemaking and reduced total consumables costs up to 80 percent. Winner of a GATF Intertech Technology Award in 1995, more than 1,000 units were placed into service during the product's lifespan.
Printware moved to the polyester platesetter arena in 1997 with the introduction of the first PlateStream polyester CtP system. This system provided the industry's first press ready plates with an integrated plate punch option. More than 2,000 PlateStream units were manufactured.
Developing upon the success of the PlateStream CtP platesetter, Printware introduced the PlateStream Elite in 2009. This latest model in the PlateStream family includes significant improvements providing higher speed output, color capable registration and a smaller footprint requiring less operating space. More than 500 PlateStream Elite systems are in production in print shops today and more units continue to be sold every month.
Printware achieved another milestone this year selling its 25 millionth roll of plate material. This sales volume represents more than 25,000 miles of plate material which if placed end-to-end would more than circle the globe.
"Customers have loved the reliability of their Printware systems over the past 25 years," commented Tim Murphy, President of Printware. "Today the PlateStream Elite supports our customers' needs with a low cost, quick payback solution designed to improve profitability and meet the ever changing press room requirements. The fact that the system is built on a proven platform with a small footprint and can be configured to the customer's press needs, including the newest landscape color presses, makes this device an easy upgrade or a great replacement for an older unsupported polyester CtP device."
PlateStream Elite polyester CtP systems surpass customer expectations for cost effectiveness, flexibility and versatility. Offering a portrait or landscape format digital platesetter with fully integrated features, the PlateStream Elite system allows printers to better compete by containing costs in their operations.
