RR Donnelley reset its 52-week high and has pocketed a 55 percent gain for the year to date. That’s more than quadruple the broader market’s climb. Not bad for a company that got on Google’s bad side.

In case you forgot: On Oct. 18, 2012, the Internet and investors suddenly began freaking out about a Google earnings report that was accidentally released early. The statement came out three hours before schedule and featured the much-mocked filler text “PENDING LARRY QUOTE.”

Google pointed a finger at its financial printer: RR Donnelley.

End of Era as NY Paper Mill is Dismantled

Trucks loaded with scrap metal that has been removed from inside the Newton Falls Fine Paper Mill (in Newton Falls, NY) are a regular sight as mill owners, Scotia Investments, continue dismantling the mill's paper machines and proceed with scrapping operations.

"It's sad for the whole community. It's gonna have a terrible effect on the community in the coming years," said Mark Hall, town of Fine supervisor.

Despite the paper mill's demise, officials say a plan to use nearly $10 million to rehabilitate a 46-mile railroad line running through St. Lawrence, Lewis and Jefferson Counties has not been scrapped.

NY Accountant Admits Swindle

Henry Diehm, 65, appeared before Rensselaer County Judge Debra Young and pleaded guilty to third-degree grand larceny. Diehm handled the books for Curtis Printing on Columbia Turnpike (East Greenbush, NY) for 15 years until he was arrested in April 2012.

If he pays full restitution to business owner Richard Lieberman by the Aug. 19 sentencing date, Diehm will receive five years' probation. If not, he faces a six-month jail term and five years' probation, District Attorney Richard McNally said.

Tacked onto a bipartisan House bill focused on protecting America's pharmaceutical distribution chain from counterfeits is a section that would limit the availability of printed prescription drug information for health care professionals.
