Global DocuGraphix’s subsidiaries, Document Imaging a/k/a GDXdata and TopForm Software, have not joined in the petitions and continue operations as normal. The action was taken by the company to attempt to conclude a sales process that it has been exploring for the last few months. The company is requesting the court to schedule a sales process to conclude in August, along with other first-day motions, including requests to pay pre-petition wages and benefits, continue utility

State of the Industry - 1996
March 1, 2006

1996, Bill Clinton was re-elected president, the economy was... ...solid and Madeleine Albright became the United States' first female Secretary of State. Compact discs were the optimum in sound quality and data storage. Labels crept their way into Business Forms & Systems Magazine, creating the BFL&S of today. And, mass numbers of pentium chip-powered PC's and laser printers made their way into homes and businesses, paving the road to the World Wide Web. With only a few years remaining in the 20th century, the mystery surrounding the new millennium intensified. People anticipated big changes, but the details of those changes were uncertain. However, the

Promote Diversity in the Education Market
July 1, 2005

Open the door to a new world of opportunities in this evolving market Everyone knows the old axiom "Knowledge is power," so where better for distributors to apply it than in the education market? From universities with hundreds of departments and internal colleges to the neighborhood school right around the corner, the opportunities for sales of printable products are endless. It just takes some basic creativity, motivation and knowledge to discover the opportunities that exist there. For instance, while traditional registrar forms, report cards, labels and tags are the tried-and-true educational standbys, products such as advanced software systems for revising academic documents, software-compatible

TopForm Announces New Product
May 3, 2005

TopForm Software, a supplier of business management software for the printed products industry based in Norcross, Ga., recently announced the release of TopForm Central--a new Application Service Provider (ASP) version of its TopForm software. President Julie Pritchard said, "TopForm Central packages the power of TopForm in a dynamic and flexible version that fits all budgets." ASP is the term applied specifically to companies that provide services via the Internet or, in most cases, software applications and/or services. With software, an ASP version is hosted and incurs a subscription fee, which restricts the user from purchasing the software and installing it on the user's

Distributors Raise the Bar
November 1, 2004

Here's how the Top 5 Distributors view their success. IBSA Targets Its Growth With a second year almost under its belt, International Business Solutions Alliance (IBSA) has grown from 61 to 119 distributor affiliates, reported $337.1 million in sales for the last fiscal year completed, and netted the No. 1 spot on the BFL&S Top 100 Distributors list. "IBSA was designed to be a team effort, not a top-down corporate structure," said Paul Keith, president and CEO. "Whatever success we have at IBSA, it will come first to our suppliers and affiliates. Our job is to help them get what they want, and only

The Winner's Circle

Six distributors share the secrets and strategies that put them on top. Workflow What makes the same distributor retain the No. 1 spot on the BFL&S Top 100 Distributors list for four consecutive years? According to Rick Wesley, president of Workflow (formerly SFI), a Norfolk, Virginia-based distributor, the formula for success lies in managing customer supply chains effectively. "Our strategy for the past three years has been to do an analysis of potential customers' supply chain needs, propose a better solution than what they have, and then begin managing their products on the iGetSmart e-commerce platform," said Wesley. The iGetSmart system is the

Global DocuGraphix Leverages Its Way to Success
June 1, 2003

As Global DocuGraphix transforms from acquisitional to operational, the marriage of traditional business forms and e-based initiatives has proved highly effective. Mike Cate can pinpoint exactly what persuaded him to leave his position as president of the South Texas division of Corporate Express and become the Chief Operating Officer at Global DocuGraphix, headquartered in Lincolnshire, Ill. It was something Global's CEO, Graham McClean, said. "Graham told me, 'We're just a bunch of good people, who have come together and are trying to build a world-class company and take care of customers,' " Cate recalled. "I think that speaks volumes about what Graham McClean is

Distributors Stay Strong Despite a Weak Economy
November 1, 2002

Shaky times did not disturb these top distributors. Lead by CEO Tom D'Agostino, Jr. and President Rick Wesley, Norfolk, Virginia-based SFI has captured the coveted No. 1 spot in BFL&S' Top 100 Distributors ranking for the third year in a row. Proactive thinking and hands-on involvement by SFI management has been at the heart of its success, for as D'Agostino observed, "When the decisions are made by an organizations' bankers or people in ivory towers it loses it competitiveness and esprit de corps." And the rate of obsolescence of printing needs has inspired SFI to move its market share forward to provide supply

Move into a More Modern E-Commerce
May 17, 2002

Print experts report that business and e-commerce evolve together. The bar for good business within the print industry has been raised for some time now. Since e-commerce opportunities infiltrated the print arena in the 1990s, many distributors have felt compelled to utilize Internet technologies in order to conform to modern business practices—a logical decision since so many consumers are demanding faster, more efficient print solutions. Still, e-commerce is considered to be a new application, and those who use it continue to adapt to its ongoing evolution while those deciding to use it search for suitable modules. The question for those who do utilize e-commerce,

Online Management Takes a Load Off
May 17, 2001

Which model to choose, however, is the question. It's not quite daybreak when the buyer of one of TopForm Software's clients sits down at a computer to get an updated report on the status of the company's print product orders. Without a single phone call or fax, the buyer retrieves the information and is free to start the day. That is just one of the great benefits of online forms management, said Julie Pritchard, president, TopForm Software, Norcross, Ga. "Customers can check a real-time status of their orders whenever, and from wherever, they want." This no fuss, no muss solution explains much of on-line
