The occasion was Indianapolis-based IBSA’s 2008 Conference, held July 21-23 at the Hyatt Regency Indianapolis. While industry professionals certainly support the sourcing of fiber from well-managed forests, they are less than thrilled with the thousands of dollars associated with obtaining chain-of-custody (CoC) certification. Some wondered where the money was, in fact, ending up. Others complained end-users—the group driving certification in the first place—will frequently opt for non-certified stock after realizing it can increase costs. Still, others pointed out that projects printed on CoC-certified stock can ultimately
Several new and unique product lines were on exhibit July 22 to 25 during Indianapolis-based International Business Solutions Alliance’s (IBSA) annual sales conference and trade show, held at the Hyatt Regency Indianapolis. IBSA affiliates were also updated on the organization’s successful and cost-effective marketing services program, which provides printing and creative content development, including website design, particularly to smaller healthcare practices that find advertising agencies’ fees cost prohibitive.

The closing of Metro Label’s four locations in Atlanta; Santa Fe Springs, Calif.; Colorado Springs, Colo.; and Garland, Texas, is one of the latest casualties in an embattled industry, and further evidence of mounting pressures facing manufacturers and distributors. Joining forces is at least giving some industry professionals a fighting chance. In 2002, nine distributors established International Business Solutions Alliance (IBSA) to better position themselves for the future. IBSA isn’t your typical distributorship. The Indianapolis-based network of more than 130 fully independent distributor affiliates and 119 suppliers isn’t competition for the DMIA either. “We are members of the DMIA,” asserted President Mark McKinney. “The
