Lancer Label Expands Quick Label Program

Lancer Label, Omaha, Neb., has expanded its 48-hour Quick Label Program to include three-color imprints in a wide variety of standard inks. In addition, the Quick Label Program features more than 50 popular sizes, free typesetting, bleeds and reverses. Top 100: The best of 2006

Upon first examining this year’s Top 100 Suppliers’ sales numbers, the BFL&S staff discovered a $241 million decrease in overall sales compared with last year. This sent the team scrambling for answers. However, deeper analysis revealed a simple explanation. As our readership may have noticed, in 2004 and 2005, Quality Park, Englewood, Colo., ranked number one and two respectively on the Top 100 Suppliers list with sales peaking at $430 million. This year, the Quality Park brand no longer appears on the list at all. In years past, Quality Park consisted of six companies: DealerLabel, Discount Labels, Lancer Label, PrintXcel, Wisco and Quality Park Products.

Screenprinting Dominates in Durability

A long-established printing technique, silkscreen reigns supreme over the durable label market. Ancient Egyptians were using papyrus stencils and pigments to duplicate images as early as 2300 B.C. However, modern screenprinting likely stems from patents applied for in the early 1900s. And except for the introduction of photographic stencils around that time, and the impact of computer technology in the '80s, the process remains relatively unchanged. So does the fact that a screenprinted label is the most durable product on the market.
