Alpharetta, Georgia-based Neenah Paper announced that John O'Donnell has been named chief operating officer, reporting to Sean Erwin, chairman and chief executive officer, effective June 1. O'Donnell has been president of Neenah's Fine Paper business since he joined the company in November 2007.

Alpharetta, Georgia-based Neenah Paper announced the completion of the previously announced sale of its remaining 475,000 acres of timberlands in Nova Scotia for C$82.5 million to Northern Pulp Nova Scotia, through its affiliate, Northern Timber Nova Scotia. Cash received at closing was used to reduce debt. A pre-tax book gain on the sale of approximately $75 million will be recognized in the first quarter as well as a non-cash gain of $88 million for the reclassification of deferred foreign currency translation gains from accumulated other comprehensive income. Both of these gains will be recorded as income from Discontinued Operations.

American Solutions for Business (ASB), Glenwood, Minn., held it’s National Sales Conference, Aug. 22-27 at Cragun’s Resort and Convention Center near Brainerd, Minn. Celebrating its 25th year in business, ASB adopted the slogan “Humble beginnings, legendary successes.” Nearly 300 sales associates attended, taking part in daily seminars and workshops, as well as a company business meeting. A Vendor Showcase was also held during the event at the Brainerd Civic Center, with nearly 200 vendors taking part. Sean Erwin, chairman of the board of directors and president and chief executive officer of Alpharetta, Georgia-based Neenah Paper, will deliver the keynote presentation at the Paper Industry International Hall of Fame’s 12th annual induction ceremony on September 28. The festivities will be held at the Radisson Paper Valley Hotel in downtown Appleton, Wis.
