Effingham, Ill.

Quad/Graphics revealed that it is closing its direct mail facility on McCall Drive in Atlanta on or before Feb. 1, 2015. The move, announced by the printer in a letter to suppliers, will result in the loss of approximately 100 jobs.

Sussex, Wisconsin-based Quad/Graphics is strengthening its direct marketing platform and solutions this year with multimillion-dollar investments in mail processing and equipment, including creating two regional commingling centers to drive greater postal savings and efficiencies for direct mail marketers; investing in a new custom Web press and other equipment upgrades in its Effingham, Ill., plant; and adding print capabilities to its Westampton, N.J., plant.

Headquartered in Chambersburg, Pa., the U.S. Government Printing Office (GPO) awarded 108 one-time print jobs to 46 print supplier clients of Government Print Management from Oct. 7 through Oct. 13. The total value in new business for the clients was $2,730,941. These print suppliers won new business as a result of collaboration with Government Print Management in not only obtaining GPO solicitations that fit their production and schedule requirements, but in gaining an appropriate quality level rating as well as historical pricing information essential to winning the jobs without leaving excess money on the table.
