By some key mileposts, Eastman Kodak likely won't look much different this year than it did in 2013. But while sales and operational earnings will be flat to somewhat down, CEO Jeff Clarke said, where that money comes from will be changing radically.

"You see a transformation," Clarke told a Manhattan conference room of shareholders Wednesday as the company held its annual shareholder meeting-its first in three years.

"Your brand is the magnet that draws consumers to your product or service," said Ken Carbone of Manhattan design and branding firm Carbone Smolan Agency. To help increase your brand magnetism, here are five rules of attraction:

1. Understand the value of designing your brand identity. "Make it a priority and find money to invest in it right away," agency co-founder Leslie Smolan said. "So many people have a business idea, ask their cousin to design a logo and say, 'That's my brand.' It's a mistake. Your brand often is the most important thing beyond the product itself."
