Can you believe 2019 is coming to a close? It feels like just yesterday I was watching New Year’s resolutions gone wrong—not mine, because I don’t make them. I do, however, want to continue my November editor’s note tradition of giving thanks. Like many of you, I am drowning in the Q4 madness with seemingly little room to breathe, so I think it’s important to take a moment to quietly reflect on recent victories. Without further ado, here is my list of gratitude:
1. I am grateful for print. Not only does it keep me employed (I celebrated my 14th anniversary with Print+Promo on Nov. 7), it has introduced me to inspiring individuals across the country, many of whom I wouldn’t have gotten to know otherwise. From Print+Promo’s Distributor Connect events to our parent company’s inaugural PRINTING United show celebrating industry convergence, I realize that print is very much alive.
2. I appreciate my team. Pardon the corporate cliché, but it’s not work when you’re having fun. My colleagues make the busy days easier to handle and do their best to keep me grounded when thoughts concerning deadlines and the like spiral toward catastrophe! We always get it done.
3. On a personal note, it’s been a tough year for my family. As I tried to navigate the logistics of working full time and parenting two children, my father, in particular, faced several serious health issues. He is doing remarkably well now, and for that I am blessed. Never take anything for granted.
What does your list look like? I’d love to know—send me an email.
