If you want to think at the deepest level, you must examine what others say. You have to engage in active listening to get to another person's "why"—not their surface-level "what" and "how" communications.
Have you ever noticed that music artists always talk about the "records" they are making? When is the last time anyone saw a new record? Or, have you ever reflected on why coaches and athletes say they are going to "watch the film" or "watch the tape" to prepare or review? I am pretty sure they are more likely to use their digital devices than an old-fashioned film reel. Yet, we hear this kind of talk in both industries all the time. Why? These expressions have become ingrained in their minds over the years and have thus become part of their individual beliefs.
The next time you hear another person talking about something, pay careful attention to what they say by trying to understand "why" they are saying it. This is a simple post designed to make you think in a new way. Check out the video below to learn more.
