Question: QuickBooks can send payment reminders to clients. What do you know about it?
Answer: That is a new feature in QuickBooks that might be helpful, but ...
I have reservations about it for our industry, because the automated nature of the payment reminders takes away the personal nature of such a nudge to make the payment.
Since our orders are customized, we typically have had a back-and-forth discourse with our clients and often develop a nice relationship, which we hope will result in more orders in the future. Sending automated, impersonal reminders seems to take away that personal relationship.
I was fortunate in having few clients be late with payments, but when they were, it was often because an invoice inadvertently had been buried on someone’s desk or the person who was to pay the invoice was away on vacation. A friendly chat generally solved the problem and enhanced my relationship with the client.
