"One of the critical things is to understand the application; how the label is going to be used," Rivaldi said. "Secondly, what machine will it be printed on, because that has a major bearing on which materials are used and how it is configured.
"Another thing that is critical--is the adhesive and the material have to match the particular printer," he added. "It's probably even more critical on laser printers than it is on other types of thermal or impact printers in that the adhesives should be configured to go through a laser printer. The thickness of material, or the type of material, is defined quite often by the particular printer it's going to go through."
