Midlothian, Texas-based Ennis has promoted Irshad Ahmad to the executive management team as vice president and chief technology officer.
Previously, Ahmad served as vice president IT for Alstyle Apparel (Ennis’ apparel segment), prior to assuming the additional role of vice president of operations at Alstyle. In 2007, he was vice president of technology for Ennis.
“Irshad has been key in aligning our IT resources to meet our expanding technology needs. His new position will give him the support, staffing and flexibility to drive the technology requirements for both our print and apparel segments,” noted Keith S. Walters, chairman, chief executive officer and president.
In other news, Ennis announced the election of Frank D. Bracken to the Ennis Board of Directors at the company’s recent annual meeting, held June 26. He filled the board position previously held by James B. Gardner, who decided against running for reelection after serving more than 38 years on the Ennis Board of Directors.
Bracken held the positions of president and chief operating officer of Haggar Clothing Co. from 1994 to 2006. Currently, he sits on the Chancellor’s Advisory Committee at the University of North Texas (UNT) and is a director of the UNT Foundation, the UNT Athletic Board and the UNT Business Board. Bracken also serves on two additional public company boards: Online Vacation Center and Philanthropy World Magazine.
Said Walters, “Frank is an exceptional business leader with a broad understanding of the apparel industry, and his expertise will be invaluable as we expand our apparel operations. We are delighted that Frank has joined the Ennis board.”
