Headquartered in Lake Success, N.Y., Canon announced the resolution of a patent infringement dispute with Zinyaw LLC d/b/a TonerPirate.com ("TonerPirate") in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York. The resolution concerns certain toner cartridges and photosensitive drums, including any toner cartridges containing such photosensitive drums, sold for use in Canon or Hewlett Packard laser beam printers.
As a result of the resolution, TonerPirate has stipulated to a Consent Judgment and Permanent Injunction from the Southern District of New York, which will prohibit TonerPirate from making, using, selling and offering for sale in the U.S., and from importing into the U.S., the toner cartridges and photosensitive drums which Canon accused of infringement, including any toner cartridges containing the accused photosensitive drums. TonerPirate will also make to Canon a payment of an undisclosed sum in connection with the resolution.
Throughout the development, sales and marketing process, Canon respects the intellectual property of other companies and individuals and expects others to similarly respect Canon's intellectual property rights. Canon remains committed to pursuing legal enforcement against those who do not respect Canon's intellectual property.
