This is the seventh year West Linn Paper has purchased RECs from BEF, making the company one of the early adopters of corporate environmental stewardship practices. Each REC purchased by West Linn Paper Company represents one megawatt-hour (MWh) of renewable electricity generated and delivered to the power grid. This energy will displace the generation of conventional electricity throughout the power system and reduce emissions into the atmosphere. West Linn Paper Company's purchase supports enough clean energy to power almost 374 homes for one year and help keep at least 2,600 metric tons of carbon dioxide from entering the atmosphere.
