Headquartered in Washington, D.C., the GPO is the federal government’s primary centralized resource for gathering, cataloging, producing, providing, authenticating and preserving published U.S. government information in all its forms. The organization recently hosted industry leaders who traveled with products to explain the challenges facing their industry in creating more sustainable paper. Public Printer Robert C. Tapella discussed these growing challenges with various representatives in order to provide customers with green paper options.
“Our federal customers have asked for more sustainable paper choices,” said Tapella. “GPO is one of the largest providers of copier paper to federal agencies in the National Capital Region. I believe GPO has the obligation to be [a] good steward of our resources and to conduct business in an environmentally, economically, fiscally sound and sustainable manner.”
In January, Tapella outlined his vision for sustainable environmental stewardship at GPO. To view his speech, visit www.gpo.gov/news/speeches/PP_CPSUSpeech.pdf.
