I.D. Images LLC Receives BS5609 Section 3 Approval for Flexographic Printing Construction
I.D. Images LLC, a leading pressure-sensitive label converter with headquarters in Brunswick, Ohio, has received BS5609 section 3 approval from Smithers Pira for a flexographically printed label construction.
I.D. Images received BS5609 section 3 approval to print four specific ink colors—black, 185 red, reflex blue and yellow—with a protective varnish on two Spinnaker coating polypropylene materials. These materials also have BS5609 section 3 approval for thermal-transfer printing with two ITW ribbons through a CAB XC6 printer. The ability to print static information with inks gives customers the additional flexibility to pre-print static information on chemical labels required to pass BS5609 section 3 compliance and print additional specific chemical information through the CAB printer with an approved ribbon on an “as-needed” basis.
In the U.S., Occupational Safety and Health Administration set a June 2015 deadline for chemical manufacturers to use GHS-compliant labels, a December 2015 deadline for distributors and a June 2016 deadline for end-users.
