Philadelphia-based PaperWorks Industries announced that it has received Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) Chain of Custody certification for some of its production across its MasterWorks line of products.
"Not only are we proud of our FSC Chain of Custody certification, but it provides a significant advantage to customers who want FSC certification for their products in turn," said Mark P. Roy, senior vice president, commercial development. "By providing FSC-certified products, we give them a major part of the custody chain with products they can use requiring a rigorous on-site supplier audit process."
The certification process has even added a new quality-control element to PaperWorks Industries' production process: visual inspections of every load that arrives at the mills, with deep audit testing performed every week. "FSC certification has resulted in another quality control step for all MasterWorks grades of paperboard," Roy said. "More than something done for compliance, we're using this as a way to add more value to our final product."
PaperWorks Industries, one of North America's largest CRB producers, was created in 2008. The company produces approximately 300,000 tons of 100 percent clay-coated, recycled paperboard annually.
