Innovative technology from Cinncinnati-based Schober USA allows the converting of multi-layered self-adhesive products in a single pass. The central converting drum which is at the heart of the system includes five processing stations to laminate, de-laminate or diecut materials like film and foil, pressure-sensitive paper stock and textiles.
Work-in-process materials stay in register because the work stations are integral to the central converting drum. This allows disparate production processes such as laminating, de-laminating, die cutting, profile punching, length and cross-cutting, waste extraction, unwinding, rewinding and product delivery to be performed. The MLPP-5 is ideal for the cost-effective manufacture of high-precision self-adhesive assembly parts, including cell phones and other communications devices, automotive and electronic components as well as intricate parts and components for the medical industry.
This design provides a versatile machine in an extremely small footprint. Base material width is 5" (129 mm) with an option for 10" (258 mm) material width. Finished part width is 4.3" (109mm). Mechanical speeds of 165 ft/min are attainable with maximum production speed dependent upon the product and processes employed. Processing tolerances of +/- .0060" (.15 mm) are standard. All stations are standard with 3" (76mm) air shafts and tension control. Machine un-wind and re-wind stations can handle diameters up to 24" (600 mm). The system is controlled through an operator interface panel which includes a touch screen mounted on a swing arm for easy access and ergonomics.
