Sun Chemical to Introduce New Technologies at LabelExpo Americas 2008
Headquartered in Parsippany, N.J., Sun Chemical—a leader in the production of printing inks and pigments—will introduce two new innovative products during LabelExpo Americas 2008, being held Sept. 9-11 at Chicago’s Donald E. Stephens Convention Center. The products serve the narrow-web and label industry, and include innovations in brand protection and printable electronics. Sun Chemical will also showcase new innovations for the UV flexo and water-based flexo markets.
Sun Chemical’s AquaPro is the next generation of water-based ink technology. An innovative value-added system that increases productivity for the printer, AquaPro delivers the world-class quality printing the narrow web market demands. AquaPro offers superior print densities, user-friendly press stability, excellent performance on paper and film substrates, enhanced thermal resistance, and easy clean up—all in a single ink system. Finished blending and process inks are also available.
In addition, new Platinum White enables rotary screen-like opacities to be achieved with a single flexo pass at flexo web speeds. It is a user-friendly product that delivers increased line speeds, faster changeovers, improved color separations and reduced costs.
Platinum White technology was developed through extensive testing, including the use of optimized resin and photo initiator packages and a complete rheological assessment. This effectively allows the printer to use next-generation technology without having to modify press equipment or invest in costly new equipment.
Sun Chemical will also launch a significant development in digital label production with SolarJet, a four-color, web press designed to meet the needs of label converters. Introduced at Labelexpo Europe 2007, SolarJet offers printers an economically viable solution for print runs of 10,000 labels or less, with a printing speed of 80 feet per minute, freeing up flexo presses for higher-volume jobs.
