Protect Profitability with Insurance Market Sales
September 1, 2004

Serving the insurance market is a smart way for distributors to cover their assets. Got insurance? If not, it's a beneficial market for distributors to add to their prospecting lists. Like health-care, it's an industry driven by regulations and drowning in paperwork, conditions that signal strong potential for distributor opportunities. "Even with the integration of technology that allows for paperless transmissions, there will always be a need for a hard copy, which ensures continued growth," said Jim Magdaleno, marketing director for Oxnard, California-based TFP Data Systems. Other similarities include the tendency for larger organizations—such as one Allstate facility in Northbrook, Ill.—to do a

Seek Privacy in the Health-Care Market
January 1, 2004

The prognosis for increasing profits is good due to regulation reinforcement. The hot topic on the table for health-care right now in terms of business forms products is privacy. That's because on April 14, those within the medical industry are expected to adopt one of the last remaining compliances in accordance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA)—a law mandating regulations that govern privacy, security and electronic transactions standards for health-care information. For distributors either seeking entry into this market or additional sales within it, this upcoming deadline swings the door of sales opportunity wide open. September 2, 2003

TFP Data Systems, Oxnard, Calif., has updated two of its tax forms— 1099-DIV and 1099-B. Both forms' overall sizes were increased from 3-2⁄3˝ to 5-1⁄2˝. The format changes were prompted by the 2003 Jobs and Growth Reconciliation Act passed by Congress. TFP Data Systems' catalog was produced before the IRS requested the format change so it does not reflect the new sizes and prices. Telemarketing is touted as a fast, efficient and cost-effective sales source. While to some the word "telemarketing" may have all sorts of negative connotations, to others the action of telemarketing is quite productive. Particularly business-to-business telemarketing, which is used to inform, update and connect with clients. As such, telemarketing is actually seen as a friend, not a foe, of many industry professionals. In fact, when it comes to propelling sales, J.R. Montalvo, executive vice president of sales and marketing, Global DocuGraphix, Lincolnshire, Ill., said telemarketing (or inside sales as the company calls it) is one of the most effective tools to do so. "Our

Offer Remedies in Health Care
January 29, 2002

Earn a healthy client base through pain-relieving products. Offer government-approved health insurance claim forms and you gain a health-care client's attention. Offer to ease the pain of insurance claim processing and you gain a client for life. This is important advice for distributors selling to the second largest industry in the United States. With tough competition coming not only from other independent distributors but from low-bidding directs, distributors seeking success in health care should consider offering remedies to soothe some of the market's biggest headaches—insurance claims. According to Jim Magdaleno, sales manager for government-approved forms manufacturer TFP Data Systems, Oxnard, Calif., one of

Act now to profit from the product that nobody wants, but everybody needs. Death and taxes. Until now, you may have thought that these were the only real certainties in life. Now you can add one more—high profits from the sale of tax forms. "Tax forms are one of the most, if not the most, profitable items sold by a business forms distributor," said Jim Foster, national accounts manager for TFP Data Systems, Oxnard, Calif. He went on to explain that many of a distributor's tax form orders can be small, and, "A company that makes a once-a-year, $120 purchase of tax forms

Learn how electronic commerce can move your business into the next millennium By Stacey Wenzel Back in December, when just about everyone was hustling to complete his or her holiday shopping, a booming number of people turned to the Internet. A study conducted by Jupiter Communications, New York, estimated that 44 percent of the online households in the U.S. shopped via the Internet during November and December--spending $3.14 billion. What does this prove? Consumers are demanding that businesses have online options--and companies that don't may lose out on sales to competitors who are online. Distributors can use the Internet to help grow their

International trade documents open the door to new sales opportunities By Laura D'Alessandro In an industry that by all accounts seems to be shrinking by the minute, TFP Data Systems, Oxnard, Calif., has discovered a market that is virtually untapped by forms distributors. The international trade market offers a bevy of new sales opportunities for distributors in search of new products. International trade documents are forms used to facilitate the function of transporting goods into or out of the United States. The majority of these forms are government mandated by either the Department of Commerce or the Treasury Department. According to TFP, billions
