Flexible, colorful, lovable decals

When I was a kid I liked watching my brother put the decals on his model cars and planes. Cutting around the designs, he'd soak them in water before sliding them off the paper backing and onto the model. Suddenly imbued with a sense of movement and energy, the plastic shapes were transformed into race cars and fighter jets, and you could now tell the good guys from the bad guys.
Decals continue to impart interest and information, but they are no longer just the flat, one dimensional decorations of yesteryear. Today's decals offer a smorgasbord of features. Whether the need is for indoor or outdoor, permanent or removable, double-faced or domed products, manufacturers produce a stunning array of decals to dazzle your customers.
The looks are fresh, upbeat and designed to catch the eye. Virtually any marketing or advertising program can utilize decals. It's up to you to direct the customer to the right application.
According to Carl Gerlach, director of marketing for Gill Studios, Shawnee Mission, Kan., "Static cling decals are very hot right now. They're fantastic for short term promotional needs. They stay put, but zip right off once the special is over."
Omaha, Neb.-based Lancer Label will officially launch its version of the super cling decal late this spring. "We combined ink and a low-tac adhesive mixed with our 'special recipe' to produce an application with more adhesion properties than static clings," said Tim Thompson, marketing manager.
