The U.S. Government Printing Office (GPO) wants to know what you think. The GPO recently released a request for information (RFI) seeking opinions from paper manufacturers and distributors about the most sustainable paper products available for it and other federal agencies to review.
The GPO, which is the federal government’s primary centralized resource for gathering, cataloging, producing, providing, authenticating and reserving published U.S. Government information, is inquiring about this in response to requests from GPO customers who are interested in fulfilling their printing needs with more sustainable paper choices.
Last year, public printer Bob Tapella held a Paper Industry Day at GPO to learn about paper sustainability from paper industry leaders from around the world. He plans to host another Paper Industry Day this year.
“I would like GPO to use more environmentally responsible paper, both in our plant and for our agency customers,” Tapella said. “I realize there are challenges in achieving this, and look forward to continuing to hear from the paper industry on ways we all can provide the best sustainable practices available.”
