Pyramid Checks & Printing Reopens Its Distributor Enrollment
After closing enrollment to all new distributors in 2003 while it converted to all digital production, Pyramid Checks & Printing, Portland, Maine, is now accepting new distributors.
"Acquiring the Imaggia II and Foliotronic illustrates our interest in providing high quality products and a flexible distributor service, while maintaining the best-of-industry pricing model that we developed five years ago," Vice President of Business Development Clare Greenlaw, Jr. said in a recent press release. "Pyramid has placed itself in a position to continue to be the lowest for-trade-only printer when it comes to banking related printing."
In its effort to fully convert to all digital production, Pyramid Checks & Printing has acquired one million dollars worth of digital equipment from Delphax Technologies, Minnetonka, Minn, including the Imaggia II Digital Printing Press and the Foliotronic Finishing System. This equipment will be instrumental in helping Pyramid Checks & Printing achieve its goal of digitally automating banking related printing production from order entry to shipping.
"The partnership (Pyramid) has with Delphax is unique in that we are bringing the most advanced automated digital order entry and prepress system in the industry to the Imaggia II—the fastest digital, cut-sheet printing press in the world," said Pyramid President Carl LeFevre in a recent press release.
Since these two pieces of equipment went into full production this past August, Pyramid has reported to have increased production capacity by more than 800 percent, without adding personnel.
Other digital upgrades that Pyramid Checks & Printing made in 2003 included its transition to all Heidelberg printing presses. It is also in the process of developing a Web-based module for distributors to provide checks via their own Web sites.
