Standard Finishing Systems Receives “Best of Show” Award at On Demand
Standard Finishing Systems, Andover, Mass., was recognized at this year’s ON DEMAND Conference & Exposition—held May 15-18 at Philadelphia’s Convention Center—with the Best of Show award in the Bindery/Finishing category for the Standard Horizon BQ-470 Perfect Binder. The new binder features end-to-end automation, color touch-screen control, and interchangeable glue tanks for application flexibility.
BERTL, the independent research firm focused on digital imaging, partnered with the ON DEMAND Conference & Exposition to produce the awards program. BERTL’s Dave Sweetnam, vice president of research and content development; Karl Rudisill, director, digital production division; and Rich McAllister, senior solutions and market analyst, acted as award judges.
The Standard Horizon BQ-470 is the latest in an expanding line of products that draw on Horizon’s core competence in finishing automation. The BQ-470 binder’s 10” LCD touch-screen is used to provide stepper motor-controlled automation to the professional-quality, mid-range binding market for the first time. The BQ-470 can cycle at up to 1,350 books per hour, bind books up to 2.5” thick, and meet varying customer requirements with optional interchangeable glue tanks for both hot-melt EVA and PUR adhesives.
“The 2006 ON DEMAND Best of Show program serves a valuable purpose by identifying the innovation leaders in our industry,” said David Reny, managing director of Standard Finishing Systems. “It’s a great honor to have the committee select the Standard Horizon BQ-470, which affirms our continuing strategy to bring productivity, performance and advanced automation to every area of the bindery.”
