MACtac Supplies Label Materials for Christmas Stamp
Decorate holiday correspondence with a stamp that pays tribute to a masterpiece with the Madonna of the Candelabra by Raphael Forever® stamp from the U.S. Postal Service.
The traditional Christmas stamp for 2011, this stamp features the Madonna and Child portrayed in the Madonna of the Candelabra painting. MACtac supplied the pressure-sensitive adhesive label materials for 600 million of the 44-cent first-class stamps issued.
In 1508, Raphael, born Raffaello Sanzio, was summoned by Pope Julius II to Rome, where he spent the last years of his life inspired by bursts of activity. The masterpieces he produced there, including the painting reproduced in this stamp, date to around 1513. Richard Sheaff served as the art director for this stamp issuance.
“The artwork featured in the Madonna of the Candelabra by Raphael stamp celebrates the reason for the Christmas holiday,” said Allison Hazel, marketing manager, MACtac Printing Products. “MACtac is delighted to supply the label stock for a stamp that commemorates this joyous celebration.”
The Madonna of the Candelabra by Raphael stamp is being issued in books of 20 self-adhesive Forever stamps. The stamps may be purchased at local post offices or at the postal store website at www.usps.com/shop.
