Producing Profitability
To Miller's and Wandling's delight, some manufacturers view unit sets as mature products and have drifted away from producing them, but unit sets still constitute a significant portion of both gentlemen's job orders. And, they expect that this will be the case in the future.
Calibrated recently invested in new equipment to increase efficiency on long-run orders of unit sets. But, what's really increasing value and profitability is the company's new folding and booking equipment. "Bindery services—such as booking, wrapping and folding—are value-added functions, and when distributors actively promote these features to the customer, they can significantly increase profits on unit set orders," said Miller.
