Peluso-Slaney advised women to find a confidant at work if they're feeling alone. Also, bring the issue up to management. "If management is part of the problem, then you have to make a decision for yourself—being selfish is OK. Life is too short to have other people's insecurities weigh on you. There are companies out there that appreciate a person who works hard no matter what their gender or ethnicity," she concluded.
